100% SILK SCARF
Silk is a natural fabric made by silkworms. They spin cocoons from fine threads, which are then woven into soft, smooth fibers. Satin isn’t a fabric - it's a weaving technique. When silk is woven using the satin method, you get Silk Satin. Silk Satin is the most luxurious of all. It’s incredibly soft, has a rich feel, and catches the light with a natural glossy shine. It’s also gentle on your skin and hypoallergenic, making it perfect if you have sensitive skin.
Our Silk Scarves are printed double-sided, creating an unmissable richness in depth of colour on both sides of the scarf. Our scarves use a quality grade silk weight of 14 momme. Each scarf is finished with hand-rolled edges for that extra touch of quality.
MODAL / SILK SCARF
Modal (80%) and Silk (20%) blends beautifully to give you a scarf that’s soft, breathable and naturally elegant. Modal is made from reconstituted cellulose sourced from beech trees. It feels smooth against your skin, drapes beautifully and holds its shape without much effort.
This fabric blend is absorbent, easy to care for, and resists shrinking. Our scarves are crafted from a premium 14 momme weight for a refined feel. Each edge is hand-rolled for that extra touch of quality.
WHAT IS MOMME?
Momme often abbreviated as mm, is the weight of silk fabric. The higher the momme weight, the heavier the silk fabric. This means a greater amount of silk was used in the weaving process. A heavier momme weight of silk fabric is more durable in quality and will last you a longer time. Most silk fabrics manufactured for scarves weigh between at 8 to 10 momme. PRINTING
At Lila and Me we do not mass produce. We order small print runs of our scarves on a required basis. Waste is kept minimal, one of the many key facets in our environmentally sustainable efforts. The environmental inks we use for printing do not contain heavy metals or other dangerous and toxic substances – certified by Kyocera, Intertek and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. We utilize the latest digital printing technology to print our scarves and achieve colour fastness levels of 4.5 to 5 (SGS tests).
Colour fastness is the resistance of a fabric to change in its colour characteristics (fade) or shrink during constant washing and exposure to sunlight. The durability of the dyed fabrics is measured from 1 (greatest change) to 5 (no change).
