Born in New York City in 1937 to Henry Fonda and Frances Seymour Fonda, Jane has sprinkled her magic across Broadway, film and the Oscars.
In the 1960s, Jane Fonda burst onto the scene, making her mark in the 1960 Broadway play 'There was a little girl' and later hitting the silver screen with the romantic comedy Tall Story. Fast forward to the 1970s, where she won not one, but two Academy Awards for Best Actress for her stellar performances in Klute (1971) and Coming Home (1978). She's also the proud owner of two British Academy Film Awards and a dazzling seven Golden Globe Awards. Jane and her dad, Henry Fonda, are the only father-daughter duo to receive Oscars for leading roles.
In 1982, Jane wowed us again, but this time in the fitness arena. She unleashed Jane Fonda's Workout, an exercise video that took the world by storm and transformed an industry. It wasn't just a workout – it was a movement! The tape became the highest-selling of its time, and she followed it up with 22 more videos over 13 years, selling 17 million copies.
Now having enjoyed tremendous success as a stage and screen actress, and within the aerobics studio, Jane dedicates much of her time to making the world a better place. Championing causes close to her heart, Jane Fonda passionately engages in activism, social change, human rights, and environmental issues. She's also an inspirational leader, especially for empowering women and girls.
